Attending

Furry Studies Conference 2024 is hosted as part of the Otterdam Furry Arts Festival (18-20 October), co-located within Nieuwe Instituut. Their website contains essential information like venue, travel, and lodging information.

The following information are specific for attendees to the Furry Studies Conference. Feel free to get in touch at hello@furrystudies.org.

Code of Conduct

Furry Studies has a zero tolerance policy on toxic behaviours. It is a requirement for everyone, including the staff and attendees to act respectfully and responsibly. This includes both in-person and online attendees, and extends to our after hours event.

Our host, Nieuwe Instituut has adopted the principle of multivocality, and maintains an active Code of Conduct. And so do we. If anyone experiences or witnesses disruptive behaviours, report it to the conference staff hello@furrystudies.org.

Accessibility

There is a gender neutral bathroom accessible by wheelchair on the ground floor. Nieuwe Insituut has a disabled parking space. Animals are not allowed indoors but guide dogs are welcome. Kids are welcome, and the café has highchairs for children. There is a baby changing room on the ground floor.

The venue is open to the public from 10am – 5pm, Friday to Sunday. To enter the Auditorium on Friday, registration to Furry Studies is essential.

Furry Studies will be streamed for registered participants. Further accessibility details on the stream will be announced.

Refer to Niewue Instituut’s accessibility page for more information.

Fursuiting

From Otterdam Furry Arts Festival:

Nieuwe Instituut will have a Headless Lounge, staffed by at least one volunteer (“volundiertje”) from 0900-2130 on Saturday, 19 October.

Please note that Furry Studies takes places on Friday, 18 October, when there is not a dedicated Headless Lounge. Attendees can instead store your items in the Auditorium space.

Fursuits, both full and partial are welcome. Please prepare accordingly with the information above to suit your needs. If you need any help on the day, you can ask one of the conference staff.

Nieuwe Café

From the Nieuwe Instituut:

Nieuwe Café is run by chef Manuela Goncalves Tavares and her team. Colourful, mostly plant-based and seasonally delicious dishes are on the menu. You can visit the café, which boasts Rotterdam’s most beautiful terrace, without buying a ticket for the institute.
